Spartan Living

The mission of the Office of Residence Life is to foster an inclusive community and dynamic learning experiences that promote student development and academic success. Spartan Living, our residential curriculum, serves as our foundation to guide the programs and events we offer our residential students.

Spartan Living is based on three Spartan Ready® competencies:

  • Life Skills - Be able to effectively meet the challenges and expectations of leading a fulfilling life.
  • Interpersonal Abilities - Develop personal insight in order to engage with others and create meaningful relationships, which will lead to effective collaboration.
  • Equity and Inclusion - Understand, respect and advocate for diverse perspectives and engagement with cross-cultural viewpoints individually, as a community and organizationally.

Our priority is to engage residential students with intentional experiences to learn about themselves and others and to develop skills to become Spartan Ready®

Every residential student, regardless of where they live on campus, will have access to monthly building-wide programs open to all residents living in their building along with smaller floor programs that are focused on building community within their hallway. In order to best support residents and their experience, each resident will be assigned a student Resident Assistant who will conduct regular check-ins and disburse important and helpful information and campus resources.
